I recently switched to Sea Monkey 1.0 from Netscape and I can't figure out how to delete entries in any but the primary address book. I used to be able to drag and drop entries from one book to another but I ddon't see how to do that either. I can edit an entry, but I cannot delete it in any but the primary address book. Any help would be appreaciated.

I have the usual Personal, and two other address books, which I had imported from .ldif files. I have no problem deleting cards from any of the AB. I select them, and press Delete on the toolbar, or right click|delete.
You can't move cards any better than any Netscape, or Mozilla AB. But, drag and drop works, although you have to aim it right. I missed a couple of times, but it worked after I got the hang of it.
Drag and drop has always been the same as Copy and Paste. If you don't want the card in the original location, you have to delete it.
Not a well thought out feature.

How do you get to the point you say allows you to delete an item?

    rong103,

Your Address Book should work exactly as it did in Netscape. How did you copy the Address Book into SeaMonkey?

Take a look at this page for some troubleshooting suggestions: Corrupt Address Book. Even though originally for Netscape/Mozilla, it still applies to SeaMonkey.

When I am at the Sea Monkey main panel and click compose, then address, then look at a non-main address book, I can edit an entry, but not delete it. (At the main address book, I can delete as well as edit.) I am not able to show two address books side by side in order to drag and drop. I take it that this is not the way it is supposed to work? any suggestions? The various address books were created from my Netscape address books when I changed from Netscape to Sea Monkey.

    rong103,

Rather than open the Address Book in the "Compose" window, open the Address Book in the Mail window. There you can move and delete addresses.

I don't open the AB in neither Compose nor Mail. There is no reason to do it if I can select the Address Book (the icon), and, do my thing. This is totally independent of Mail.

It is no different than in Netscape7.x. There are a bunch of icon in the bottom, or Status toolbar. The Address Book looks like an open book. also from the top toolbar, Window|Address Book. You don't have to open your mail to do this.

I am only able to get to the primary address book as you describe - not to the other address books. The only way I can get to the other address books is thru compose/address - but I am still unable to delete an entry; I can edit one, but I cannot delete one once it is in the system.

By normally, what do you see/have to do to get to other than the primary address book from the tray icon?

All address books are accessible. And, I can drag and drop, or delete cards from any of them. I have the original Personal, and the Collected AB. In addition I have a Family, and a Friends address book, imported from .ldif files.
My profile has three AB files, and I don't quite understand this. May be both Personal and Collected are in abook.mab, and there are impab.mab AB, representing the two imported ABs.
I created a profile, especially for Seamonkey1.0, to avoid any messing up.

Precisely where are your address books located (C:\...) and precisely what is the name of the primary and one of the secondary address books. I can find no *.mab files on my machine.

If you had Netscape7.x before, and you have WinXP, you either never had occasion to look, or you forgot. It is important that some basic information be provided, or else such threads go on forever.Anyway, Ramona has a nice website with all info for profile locations . Each profile has a xxxxx.slt folder, and all the info is there.
Read, carefully, the instruction to unhide folders in WinXP.
Once you in the profile folder, it is a matter of finding the .mab folders. You want to look, only, at the abook.mab and impab.mab files. You may not have what I have, and what is happening to you may have something to do with the way you got your files. Like where did you get them. Are these the same as the Netscape, etc. You have to help yourself. I can guess just so much.
