    I am using NS 7.1.

I "thought" I had exported my Address Book to a floppy because of on going virus issues. Today I wanted to copy it back into Netscape, but now I can't find where to copy it.

    Pretty dumb, eh?

First, it is a LDIF extension isn't it?

That's what the floppy file states, but after doing several searches for any files with that extension, I came up with nada. I checked the Mozilla folder in Documents and Settings and several other places. No luck.

    Thanks.

    Hi vegaspat,

If you exported it as an .LDIF file, then you will need to open Netscape 7.1, Address Book.

    Click on Tools | Import
    Select: Address Book
    Select: Text file (LDIF,........)
Open the folder containing the LDIF file

Netscape 7.1 will import the Addresses into your Address Book. It will be listed in the left pane as whatever you named the Address Book LDIF file.

Highlight the imported file in the left pane
    Press CTRL+A
Left click and drag the highlighted addresses in the right pane into the Personal Address Book, left pane.

    That should do it.

BTW, the Personal Address Book name, which appears in your salted (*.slt) folder is abook.mab. The imported Address Book name will be impab.mab

    Thanks Ramona.

Why don't they just make things really easy for us dummies?

Why don't they just call it THE Address Book and put it in a very easy spot.

    Appreciate your help, as always.

BTW, why do they call it "salted ".

    Hi vegaspat,

I hear ya, nothing is ever simple!

It's called salted because profile data is stored in a randomly named (salted) directory to make it difficult for malicious programs to find profile data.
