Address Bar in the Task Bar

I recently started having problems using the Address Bar that is accessible from the Task Bar. It will find some URL's but most will give me an error message that the site cannot be found. I've updated all critical updates and cleaned up the "usual" suspects. any ideas??? thanks!

If so, what OS version and what browser (including version)?

If not, I'm confused so more info please.

I think Barb is referring to address bar you can put in your taskbar by right clicking on the taskbar>toolbars>address bar. If not, I'm sure she will let us know.

If that is what you're talking about (have a look at my pic below) do the addresses that don't work in that address bar work if you type them into IE's address bar?

 

Yes, I'm referring to the Address toolbar available in the Task Bar not the address box in a browser. thanks....
