For the life of me I can't find how to do this.

I've lost the entry for a new text document when you right click an open folder (or go File/New...) in Windows Explorer and I want to re create it.

Anyone know the key location in the registry to do this?

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.txt\ShellNew]
    "NullFile "=" "

That's generally the problem area, check/see what yours says.

    My entry looks like this:[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.txt\Shell]

    Nothing about Nullfile

Then copy what I pasted above into Notepad and name it something with a .reg extension, then double click it and allow it to merge to the registry.

Alternately, you can create the Value String manually by right clicking the registry field at that location and select NEW > KEY . and name the Key ShellNew. Then open that new key and right click the open area again and select NEW > String Value > and name it NullFile.

That should do it either way.

That did the trick. I'll add that one to my records.

Thanks kindly and have a great Christmas.
