Since the MS method will only offer certain items, you can use another method to place things on the Start Menu.

It's as simple as Drag & Drop. Just click on the item you want to place on the menu and hold the mouse button down and drag to the Start Button, hold it there for a moment and when the menu opens, continue to drag to where you want the item located and release the button.

To remove an item, right click on it and then click "Remove from this list. "

As Surferdude has just pointed out, there's more than one way to skin a cat. I usually make a new folder under Documents and Settings > All Users > Start Menu > Programs called Special PC Tools. Then I'll make a short cut to that folder and drag the shortcut out to the desktop and rename it just Special PC Tools. Then I drop all kinds of Utility shortcuts into the folder and drag its shortcut down to the quick launch bar. Now I have 1 click access to my most often used Utilities but that same shortcut to Special PC Tools can also be found in the Start Menu under Programs.

    ;)
