I have a Dell Dimension 4300S: It has a Pent.4 1.80G CPU. It only has a single 256 Ram Card @ 1.79G. Can I add two (2) 12++ cards, or will I be better off just upgrading to two (2) 512 cards? Also, can anyone suggest the best place to get 'em? Thank you:)

According to this page, you only have two memory slots. Personally, I would go with one 512 piece and see if that works for you. I have 768MB in my XP system and is enough for what I do. As far as where to buy, I would try Newegg or Shopper.com. The last time I bought memory, I went through Shopper.com to find the best price. In the past, I've also had good luck through eBay.

    Only 768??

Mike, thanks for the advice. You were right: Shopper has the best price.
$ 40.50 per 512 card with FREE shipping! (I've seen prices from 99.00 to 59.00 PLUS shipping!). But why only upgrade to 768 and not 1024? Wouldn't it be faster with (2) 512's? I now have a single 256MB PC133/168 SDRAM (Non-ECC) in a DELL Dimension 4300S with an 80g HD. It's actually my son's and he downloads & stores alot of music, pix and videos. He's not a gamer and doesn't use it for much "data" (Word, Excel, etc...). Thanks :)

    miracleman,

Glad to offer the site tip. I wasn't sure what you used your system for, so that is why I suggested one. Go with 2 pieces of RAM. I recently upgraded my son's laptop to 1024 and he's noticed the improvement. He is into the music and videos also. He also does some gaming.
