    Hi!

Okay, I'll just put forth this question to where all the answers are. Here! ;)

My daughter has been attempting to add music to her outgoing OE6 email. She doesn't want to attach a music file like one would attach a pic or something. She wants the music to playwhen the mail is opened, to go along with some brilliant stationery she has created. She wants me to open my email and away goes the music while I read her email to me.

She has it so that it works on her machine but when recieved by either me or her sister, all we get is the sationery. No music. The girl is adamant on trying to do this. She can hear the music on her machine when she opens up the sent email from her "Sent" folder but we cannot.

We've surfed around quite a bit and can't seem to find an answer to this.

Is she looking to do something that can't be done? If it can be done, how?????

From all 3 of us XP Pro freaks and from this devout believer in this fantastic site, we humbly thank you in advance for considering our self-imposed plight.

Don't know what she's tried already so I'll tell you what works for me. Click somewhere in the email and then click the format menu, then background, then music.

If you or you sister uses Netscape, that could be your problem.
I have a friend who uses Netscape and she can never hear music that is embedded in Outlook Express email.

Netscape? Nope, we all use OE6 but good guess there! That could have easily been the glitch and I realize what someone recieves may be a whole different kettle of fish with other email programs.

Mandy just emailed me after checking out the thread on her own. She writes to me:

"That is EXACTLY what I HAVE been doing. That's how I learned I could do that, so ya...We will have to wait and see." (meaning where the thread goes)

So, okay, Zander......it would appear that she has been doing what you suggested. Is it something else she needs to do or is it the way me & my other daughter have our OE set up????

I'm really curious about this myself now.

Thanx for the help, folks! Sorry I didn't get back to my PC earlier in the day for you!

    Randy

    Thanks Zander.

I didn't know that could be done. Just sent an email to my sister with a bullet ricochet and asked her if she ducked.

Are you trying to send .mp3 files? Maybe you need to convert them to MIDI, .wav or wma files to send them. I tried sending .mp3 and it worked going from OE to Outlook, but when I went to my mail on the web it did not. I also tried sending a wav file but on the web it showed is as an attachment.
    Just a thought

Only waves and midis can be embedded with the Format, Background sound command. Other types of sound files require a script in the stationery to either embed or stream them. I don't have instructions for this as I don't care to do it but if you ask on this newsgroup you will get help.

Many stationery makers who use these file formats stream them from a website to minimize the size of their post/email. You should be sure that large messages are welcomed by the recipient before you send a message with a large embedded music file.
