    Hi everyone,

I have two physical hard drives, both ntfs partitions. If I add files to my secondary drive, the space gets used but the files don't show up.

If I use command prompt and do a dir of the drive, it will list a lot of files but after a while of listing, it will say "File not found" and stop listing. I'm 100% sure that some aren't being listed.

If I just open it through My Computer, I don't get an error message but again, not all the files show. When I right click on the drive and go to properties, I can see the volume of the drive has decreased with respect to how big of the files I copied in there.

I didn't notice this at first but I think this started to happen after service pack 2 was installed. After the installation, it took me a while (because i have many files on the drive) to realize that some files were "missing" but the drive space hasn't increased.

    What's going on?

    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the link. I don't think that will fix my problem but I'll give it a try over the weekend. I'll post back in a few days.

It sounds very much like a partition table error. These appear to be pretty common on almost any machine I have checked, but most have no noticeable consequences.

Download this program and run it to create a boot floppy. Boot from the floppy and see what you can see.
