I just removed a 4gig hard drive from another computer that was running Win 95B. I mounted it in this computer so I could have a bit more storage I booted this computer up and checked the BOIS to see that all 4 IDE connects,2 primary,2 secondary were on automatic I installed the new 4g hard drive as a slave on the primary port. My CDburner is all by itself on the secondary port, the 2 gig hard drive that has win95B on it is the master on the primary port.when it booted to the desktop I checked in "My Computer ", the 2G is C the 4g is D and theCD RW is E.
I had every intention of formatting the 4G but is it necessary? Will it work on this system without formatting? I assumed all the stuff that was on it when it was running the other computer would still be on it. It shows 388 used (397.312 bytes) and only 4 objects -command,drvspace,Io.sys,ans Ms.dos.sys. 3.99 G open.
It ain`t easy being a novice.
I`m assuming I can drag and drop, or send, from the old drive to the new. Is that correct?
As usual thanks for the assist. If Billy bob is around tell him I`m about ready to upgrade to `98

    Moore,

If you know the system that it came out of, you should be ready to go. If you're not sure about the other system, I would go ahead and format the drive. You may also want to scan with your anti-virus software to make sure it's clean.

Other then that, you should be ready to transfer data over and install programs as you choose.
