add/remove components not working error code 0x2

    I receive this message when I try to use add/remove windows components:
    setup unable to open file netoc.inf error code 0x2 at line 2080999592. I found a reference to it, but lost the page when I registered and can't find it. I'm using windows XP SP2.
    If someone has a solution that worked for them I would appreciate hearing from you.
