I purchased a new computer and now have windows 8 and IE10. I checked the setting under internet options and they show I should be able to have the option of asking that my Passwords be saved. When I log onto most sites and enter the password however it is not prompting me to save the password. I have thread several third party sites but they all want to add their own toolbar and I do not want this.

Jerry, I know this is not answering your question, but have you considered programs like RoboForm to save your passwords for you? You can save up to 10 passwords for free, but anything over that requires a license (about $20.00 I think).

Most security experts that I know of frown on saving passwords in your browser.

    Just my 2 cents worth.

I just save mine on each site that I go to and when doing a cleanup, I just make sure that Passwords and Cookie and Website Data aren't checked.

Yeah, I would discourage you from saving your passwords in your browser. It is not a good "physical security" practice. Consider this - what if someone breaks into your home and steals your computer?

I recommend using a password safe. RoboForm is very popular. So are Password Safe and KeePass Password Safe and they are free for home, non-commercial use.

I use and recommend SplashID Safe that comes in several versions (depending on if or what you want to sync with (PC only or PC and Phone, Cloud, etc.) starts at just at $10 one time fee.

Sticky Password (http://www.stickypassword.com/) is also good, I would personally recommend it.

In answer to your actual question I would first try Resetting IE10, and then seeing if it works. (See attached pictures for further guidance.
