My 30 something niece ask me which malware program to install. Her kids seem to be getting infected all the time. I do not run any, so I need something simple for her to operate ... including removal of the simple IE infections would be great. She is running Trend Micro Internet .. ask her if current/updated, she just shrugged her shoulders. Computer is a Dell 4300 about 8 years old so resources will be limited. Currently it has some pop-ups in IE stating "Computer infected ". .. 2008?? I have computer up and running, boot was good, no issues. I do not have it attached to my internet as I do not trust it's current protection nor do I want it attached to my network. Can "Malwarebytes or Super" Anti-Malware root out the simple IE infections??

Without seeing some logs, it's hard to estimate what's there. Something is there, judging from a pop-up.
You can surely run Super and MBAM, but you have to remember, that 50% of a computer being safe depends on user's habits.
If she doesn't even know, if her AV is up to date, whatever cleaning you do now, won't last long.

    Thanks for the info Broni
I'm in complete agreement with "It will get re-infected ".
I tried "Image Backup" school, but was not receptive.
Suggested when they get a new computer to use w7 built in image backup.
I don't know w7 restore success rate, but you could teach a monkey how to maneuver the interface.
I'm currently quick scanning with "Super Portable ".
So far it has found ...
    Adaware.MyWebsearch
    Adaware.MyWebsearch/FunWebProducts
    Adaware.TrackingCookie
    Adaware.Gamevance
    Rogue.WindowsEnterpriseDefender

I disabled TrendMicro during scan. Script is active until summer 2010.
After scan/quarantine will shutdown all of my computers, hook up infected box to my router/internet, update Trend Micro. Then I'll fire up IE and check for pop-ups
