This is on my laptop, running WinXP Media Center edition2002.
When I try to run it, it gives me error 1814. When I try and uninstall it, or change(repair) it, I get error 1920. I read some of the posts on Lavasoft's or Adaware's bulletin board, as well as having re-read my own post(here) from last August-that concerned Adaware updating from 2007 to 2008 under Vista. I did run services.msc, and found a lavasoft entry. Right-clicking it shows its Status as "Starting ", and its startup type as "automatic ", however, start, stop, pause, resume, restart are all greyed out. I then ran system restore, twice, with two different dates, but neither one changed anything wrt to Adaware. I still get the same errors. I have since abandoned regseeker, and am using EUSING registry cleaner.
Can't say that it is better, but it is missing the search function, so I can't really go into the registry and search for adaware or lavasoft, unless I do it through regedit. Haven't done that yet. Also, will try in safe mode, and see if I can't run as administrator. All of this trouble started after the lastest definition update. If safe mode or administrator work, I'll report back.

I did some more digging on Lavasoft's support forums. The solution was to delete the latest update file from the Lavasoft/adaware folder.
I did, and now adaware comes up again. It states that the latest definition version is not available. I'm wondering whether I should uninstall and reinstall, now that I at least have access to the program, or whether I should just go ahead and run the latest update.
This install started as Adaware 2007 and updated to 2008 somewhere along the way as a software update. I'm tempted to uninstall and just start from scratch.
