I had ads off but have now bought a new computer. This one has windows XP on it. I am no longer able to get ads off and am wondering what program you recommend. I am currently using stopzilla but I do not like it as it doesn 't let me view some of the pages I need to view. For instance in msn zone when I go to play in a tournment and I type in the jump number it will not let me go to the site unless I unblock it first. What is the best program out there for me??

    Ad-Aware.

Works fine with XP. Also gives you the option to exclude any "spyware" from it's search so you can easily keep items you need. Never used the other one so don't know if it could do the same.

There are a couple of switches you can use so the program will run to completion (including spyware removal) which allow use via scheduler. That way you can run it daily and not have to remember it.

I been using this one for about 1month. Very pleased. Only 64kb, if some links in email or web pages dont open, hold down the ctrl key when clicking. Also, if you dont like the annoying bell, go into control panel, sounds, and look for "default sound ", turn it off..

Oops - misread the original. chalver did say "ads" and I somehow read "spyware ".

Pop Ups - my absolute favorite for dealing with them is Pop-Up stopper from www.panicware.com . Not quite 100% but it stops more than any other I have used.

I agree with Newt on this program... However it can get a little over protective at times and block some links you click on..

But holding the Ctrl key while clicking these links allows them to open...

Shucks - it even blocks 2nd or 3rd browser windows from opening. But it is easy enough to hold down the key and have them start IF AND WHEN YOU WANT THEM.
