Over the years, I would occasionally get Active X error messages. The past week or so, I have been getting lots of them. The message says something like "An Active X control prevented this page from loading or displaying correctly ". I'm not sure how to handle this or what to do about it. Any suggestions.

My bad, I should have been more specific. Most of the time I use Firefox for internet work. I do use ms sometimes, but very seldom. But you did give something to look for. I'll reset ms and see if there is a way to reset Firefox. I did try restarting Firefox with all add-ons disabled, but did get an error message after that. Thanks

ActiveX is Microsoft's proprietary, non-standard technology and is not available in browsers other than Internet Explorer.

Firefox does not support "ActiveX" because:
    • ActiveX is only available on Windows, so pages that use ActiveX will not work on Linux or Macintosh, which are both supported by Firefox.

    • ActiveX is unsafe in terms of security. Applications that use it are more susceptible to viruses or other malicious software.
Note that some sites explicitly specify the use of ActiveX controls even though they will not render in a browser without ActiveX support.

I have now reset both IE and Firebox. I'll just have to wait and see what happens. I'll mark this as resolved for now. Thanks
