As of this time it looks like I will be activating Windows XP Pro.

Are there any changes that get made ?

If so what should I be looking for ?

Other than the fact I would not be able to wipe it out and re-install.

    I still have 12 days.

You shouldn't notice anything different. Totally painless process. After you activate it you might want to save a copy of the wpa.dbl file. If you ever have to wipe the drive for some reason or another you can copy the file back to the drive and avoid having to activate it again. You'll find it in your windows\system32 folder.

    Thank you.

I am still finding my way around but I have so much work into it now that I really FROWN on giving it up.

I finally got onbaord Audio working again. All WHQL drivers installed and working. I have learned how to handle roll back on drivers and System restore so I think I am now pretty safe.

Zander told you right. As soon as you activate sucessfully back the file up. It is small and will fit on a floppy. But keep it in multiple places so that if you need it you will have it.

10-4 on multiple places. On a floppy. On CD. And on another HD with that HD on another machine.

That is a lesson I learned a LONG time ago. DO NOT put full trust in floppys.

They seem to have a very high failure rate lately. :p

:) I did not invest in a CD burner and an extra HD just for the fun of it :)

And you can believe me when I say that I HAVE NOT been treating this thing with Kid Gloves.

I want it as solid as I can possibly get it before activating. I prefer to make my mistakes now.

I have been testing out various reg cleaners. RegScrub is one.

Like the DUMMY that I am at times I even tried NSW again. Next day a System Restore took care of that very quickly.

One mistake that I did make was that I deleted the Default user. OOOPPPSSSS !!!. That is where the player info was for my Links 2003. It is all back under ALL users now. When I re-installed it asked if I wanted it there.

So actually I guess we can say that I made a learning mistake. Next time look before leaping.
