Anyone had the problem before? I have an XP laptop networked to a Windows 2000 desktop in a workgroup. Each has a static IP.

It works fine in that I can browse the Windows 2000 shared folders no problem.

However, I tried to get Acronis to back up to the shared folders on the Win2k machine and I'm getting an error that the path is invalid. I don't see why when the path is:

    \\COMPUTER\LaptopBackups

It happens when I backup through Windows or when booting off the CD.

Try mapping a drive so that you can specify

    T:\laptopbackups\
    (or any drive letter)

During bootup off the cd you probably aren't connecting to the network....

I tried using mapped drive.. still no luck.

Booting off CD I can connect to the other PC as I can see the Shared folders... I just can't get Acronis to accept the network path.

I don't have any issues backing up to a network or mapped drive in True Image 8, and I don't believe I've had any difficulties with this in True Image 7 either. Make sure you have permissions to the share you wish to connect to.

I don't know, it's weird. It works here at work on our Domain. But at home in a Workgroup even though I can browse to and see the file it doesn't recognize the file path.

Welp I feel stupid. I think it is going to end being a permissions problem. While I made the shared folder visible to EVERYONE I forgot that by default Windows makes it read only... so Acronis could not write to the directory.
