I have an ACER G33T-AM 1.0 motherboard and I am trying to find out if it contains the PCI-E 2.0 version for video cards. My manual and board states PCI-E X16 but that is all. I have used GPU-Z and the data there states the PCI-e slot is a "PCI-E x16@x16." Now to me that means it is just a x16 slot but is it version 1.0, 1.1 or 2.0? I am upgrading the video card in my system from an ATI 2600 HD Pro to an NVidia Ge Force GTS 250 but I think I might run into problems with the PCI-E slot. I would appreciate anyone enlightening me on this question?

AFAIK all PCI E x16 slots are backwards compatible in the same way as USB 1 devices will run in USB 2 ports - more information here - scroll down to History ....

    PCI Express

    Thanks for the info!

Thanks for the good reading Pete. I learned a few things that I did not know from reading through it. Like everything else, when it comes to computers a person's experience is never enough. I am trying to upgrade my graphics card without going overboard. Sticking a card like the NVidia GTS 250 I think is a bit much so I will be going with the NVidia 9600 which is about all my system will be able to take full use of.
