    Hi Everyone:
This is my first time in this group.

I am hoping that someone here can answer question for me.

I have a WinME system that only on a VERY COLD boot (system has
been off for more than .5 hour) do I get the following error msg.:

Accstat has caused a General Protection Fault in KERNEL32.DLL

I haven't been able to find out any information in the M$ knowledge
base about Accstat as well as several other places on the net. I'm hoping that someone here can give me some answers to the following questions:

    1. Accstat seems to start up before the login screen. So where would
I find the run command (registry, win.ini, system.ini, etc)?
    2. Is Accstat something that I have to keep around? Can I disable it
    from running at all?
    3. What does the Accstat program do anyway?

    TIA

    Regards
    Brian Keene

    This might be it.

Do a search for ACCSTAT.EXE, and rename it to ACCSTAT.EXX or whatever, and see what happens. If you're comfortable doing surgery on brain stems, you can start Regedit, do a search in the registry for it and delete references to it.

Standard advisory: back up your registry before tampering with it.

    Also check out this page:

    ACCSTAT.EXE

P2P programs such as KaZaa apparently use it.
