My version of Outlook is Office Outlook 2003 (part of Office Pro Edition 2003)

I changed jobs so I removed the first company's email account information, and then created a new account for the new company. I tested the new account (using the test button in the account setup wizard) and everything seemed OK.

After this was done, Outlook no longer displays the Send/Receive button along the top panel of the main Outlook screen. The button flashes momentarily after Outlook loads, but the button goes away.

Also, when I start a new message, there is an Accounts button on the message pane. When I click this, I get a Microsoft Word error message, saying "Unable to complete the operation. A fatal error has occurred in Outlook. "

I de-installed Office, and reinstalled it. I ran into some difficulties because I received a 1919 error which has to do with corrupted keys relating to Window's internal ODBC databases. I fixed this by following the procedure on Microsoft's support page. Once I fixed the registry, Office was able to re-install.

BUT the Outlook problem with the missing Send/Recive button remains.

I searched on the web and on Microsoft's page, but I could not see any references to this problem. Based on the 1919 error, I am wondering if I may have some additional munged up reg keys. But I don't know where to begin to identify and fix these keys.

I hope someone can point me towards some resources to get past this problem.

I have set up the account on Outlook on another XP machine at home, and have been able to access email that way. But I need to have email on my laptop and not my home machine.

    Thanks in advance,

    Tim

The removal of the company account sure sound like it didn't complete..

Might try clicking HELP->Detect and Repair

Detect and Repair - No Go

Thanks for the suggestion Steve. I executed a repair, and went back into Outlook to find that there is no improvement. I still have all of the old symptoms.
