I attempted to open Windows media player and received an error message:

"An internal application error has occurred ".

Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I can't seem to access my media player anymore.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Hello a6r2c3,

Try a basic fix, System Restore.

If you're not familiar with restoring to an earlier time, then use Help & Support on the Start menu.

Type System Restore in the search box, and then click on "Run the System Restore Wizard ". That will take you to SR's front Panel, Restore to an earlier date should be ticked by default, click on next, and in the next window, click on the date in bold when WMP worked and click on next.

    If that doesn't work:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/mp10/errors.aspx takes you to WMP10's error messages. If not version 10, there is a link to version 9's error messages. There is also a link to MS's WMP message board.

I'm moving this thread to the Other Software section, I don't think this is strictly an XP problem.

    Regards - Charles
