    Hi,

I have a wireless home network with 3 PC's which works fine.

I would like to view and if possible alter a Palm diary system which is setup on 1 machine but as I only have XP Home, I believe that it does not have the Remote Desktop feature of XP Professional?

Can someone advise please, any other program which will allow viewing etc. of my Palm diary from the other 2 remote computers?

    Any help appreciated. Thanks Lynda.

    View Palm Desktop on network

    Interesting question.
I do not know if you could share the folder with the Palm desktop.
You should be able to view the contents of the folder of the Palm data as a shared folder on the network.
Turn on file sharing on that computer with the palm.
Right click and share theat folder.
You should be able to see that folder of the first computer on the remote computer. Install the software for the Palm on the remote computer and open the file with that program.
Another option is remote access software across the network.
Real VNC is a version of vnc remote access software that will do the trick.

    http://www.realvnc.com/download.html

install the server ( full install ) on the computer with the palm.
Install only the viewer software on the remote computer .
All you have to do is type in the ip - ( the internal ip that the router hands) as the server in the viewer on the remote computer and you have full access ( not sound though) to the Palm desktop equipped computer.
It is a good idea to place a password on the VNC for security reasons.
You can figure out the ip the router hands the computer seveal ways
    - in the router lan listings
    - phsysically checking
    - network magic will list the map of the network

    - VNC was placed on a friend of mines computer one New Years evening.
My son told me " I should not of allowed friend x to ....... ".
    - the poor fellow (victim) was drinking and did not speak to me for 3 months
My idea of high tech as a teenager was to ring the doorbell and run away.
One last point - the ip of the computers ( unless set to static ips) will change on a regular basis.

    Thanks visionof,

Have downloaded VNC, it works perfectly and allows me to do exactly what I wanted.

    Thanks again,
