I have a desktop and laptop computer at home. Both are running Windows XP on my small home network. Here is what I want to do.

I have several email accounts that I would like to download onto the desktop computer, then access from both computers. I am envisioning something similar to my work situation where I can log onto any computer at work and have access to my email. I would be using the desktop as a sever and it would be downloading emails from multiple accounts, then serving them up on a kind of global account.

Is it possible to do this in a cheap or free home environment? Do I need to provide more details? Is this the correct forum for this type of question? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

XP Pro comes with Remote Desktop that you could use.

Or, most POP3 accounts have the ability to "leave mail on server" which would allow you to download to both machines. When you send mail, you can BCC yourself to get a copy on the other machine.

    Another suggestion
I would assume work has email set up in an IMAP type of account.
There are many IMAP Website email accounts available for free.
Have each of your accounts "forward" a copy to the IMAP account.
Set up this IMAP account on all of your computers. You can manage the IMAP account from all of your computers (actually any computer via web view) because all the records are stored in one database on the web, accessible from any computer. If you originate all new emails via the IMAP account, it is pretty much a self-supporting system.
    Additional sidenote ...
You can set up filters in the IMAP account to sort received mail to a folder labeled for each of your email accounts.
