Windows Vista Access denied to some folders

Got an old Acer laptop with Vista. Previous user is no longer here. I set up my own acct with admin privileges, and password. But when I went to go into certain folders eg. App data got "access denied" message - did a right click on that folder went to security tab, made sure that I had all allowed uses. Still could not get in. There is a list of users given when I R. click on folder and go to security tab.
