I have a network problem that I have spent many hours on and can't figure out what is wrong - here is the scenario
    I have 3 computers (1 desktop and 2 laptops)
    all running Windows 7
all in the same "Workgroup "
desktop can see and connect to all folder/files but 1 new laptop
laptops can see everything and move folders/files on all computers
problem is the desktop can not access the one new laptops folders/files (says access denied) but the laptop can move folder/files from the desktop
I need the desktop to be able to access the new laptop which it does fine with the other laptop.
Hope that makes sense, any idea what is wrong?

Laptop can open files on Desktop (main computer) just fine
Desktop (main computer) can not open files on the laptop < this is the only problem and the desktop computer does see the shared folders, just won't open them.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Thanks Arie,
I was able to get the folders/files to open by adding the "Everyone" to the permissions but that still did not work for the "C" drive itself but I can now at least manipulate the files that I have shared so great improvement. When tring to set the "Everyone" for the laptops "C" drive it showed several errors that it could not change certain files because they were in use.

I would never set my C drive to be shared by the Everyone user :(

Any drive is shared by default as an Administrative share (in case of a C drive as C$).

These shares will allow anyone who can authenticate as any member of the local Administrators group access to the root directory of every hard drive on the system.

Now if you have a Home edition they won't be accessible by default.

First point is that you have to set user account passwords (same user on both systems).

I was just trying to find out why my other laptop has zero problems accessing the main computer's "C" drive and the main computer has zero problems accessing the older laptop's "C" drive when with the new laptop the main computer could not open the "C" drive on the new laptop computer and popped up an error when trying to do so when the laptop had no problem opening the "C" drive on the main computer or the older laptop. I wanted the same results with the new laptop. As long as the folders inside the "C" drive on the new laptop are now accessible from the main computer all is good!
    Thanks again

    Well,
It still is not "Solved" as my main computer and my older laptop do not have to have the permissions as "Everyone ". The only way I could get the main computer to even see the new laptop was to give "Everyone" permission so still hoping for an answer.
    Thanks

BTW - the two laptops do have passwords and login names that are the same - the main computer has none and never has - all three are running Windows 7 Home Premium
