    Hi
First off I'm running windows xp, I really have an annoying problem which all started with an unexpected power outage, yep you guessed it my computer was on, no program or internet running it was just turned on. Well after I rebooted the computer I couldn't open any files, and programs, or even connect to the internet. So after doing a few restarts can't remember how many but it seemed like quite a few I was then able to open files, programs, and go on the internet. Here is the problem that's really got me puzzled.

When I start up my computer for the first time I get a blue screen that says
"Checking File System on C: One of your disk needs to be checked for consistency. So it checks File Verification, Index Verification and Security Descriptions. A few times it's deleted Index entries after the checking of File system.

Can anyone tell me what is going on and how I can get it to stop checking my File system every time I start up. I thought about going to system restore to a day before the power outage but I wanted to check with you BBS because there are certainly more experts here and you've helped me out of problems before.

Sorry to go on so long but I wanted to make sure I had all the info for anyone who can help me out.

Thanks in advance for your help.
    Shirley
