    Hi.
I am on Win XP Sp.2 Outlook Express 6.
Is there a way to make OE open every link in a new Internet Explorer Window instead of opening it on the same one all the time? Would be good when I click on a link inside OE to open it in a new Internet browser window.
    Thanks a lot.
    Regards

In Internet Explorer go to tools>internet options>advanced and under browsing uncheck the line that says reuse windows for launching shortcuts. If that doesn't work, in windows explorer (or any folder window) click tools>folder options>file types. Find " URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol" in the list of file types, click on it to highlight it and then click the advanced button. In the list of actions click open and then click the edit button. Uncheck the line that says Use DDE.

Doing this will usually make it work the way you want but I find that every once in a while it quits working in OE and I have to go back in and uncheck the Use DDE line. Somehow the thing always seems to end up checked again but for some reason it doesn't always bother windows opening the way I want in OE. I just checked mine now and see the line is checked again but OE is working fine so I'll just leave it for now.

One thing I did differently the last time I unchecked it was I removed the text in the box just under the Use DDE line. The box I'm talking about says DDE Message just above it. I see it's still empty and perhaps that's why it doesn't bother OE now. Don't know for sure. My point is that if it keeps rechecking itself on you, you might want to try removing that text. You can always copy and paste it into notepad and save the file so you have it if you should ever want to put it back. As for me, I've never missed it. If you want to know what it is, take a look at the link below.

    Hi Zander,
You are absolutely right about the content under "Use DDE" option.
I did not even bother uncheck it but simply deleted the" "%1 ",,-1,0,,,," content and it woks all the time and perfectly in OE. I guess that is the very solution. Thanks a lot mate.
    Peace :)
