A reminder program like Works?

Just installed MSOffice for an elderly friend and removed MSWorks (2000) in the process.

But now he tells me that he really misses the Reminder prog that was part of Works.

I'm not going to reinstall Works, as I think he's better off with Office.

But I would like to get him some reminder software that's as good, or better, than he had before.

Anyone able to suggest some suitable software? He won't want anything too clever-clever; just a fairly basic app, with a good reminder popup.
