Sorry this isn't actually a technical *problem* as such, and if it breaks the rules of conduct, please lock this thread or delete it.

Can anyone answer the following question -

What is the fastest protocol available for networks?

I won't give choices, but wait for answers, (cause i don't want to make a fool out myself if i'm wrong!!)

    Thanks for you help...

You could probably squeeze a transfer rate of 2.5TB per hour from a HIPPI linked home GSN. Bit expensive though ;)

    Fastest at ???

ST is supposed to be lightning fast at normal network operations (Gb networks only)

Others are optimized for specific purposes like BDSpro for large-file transfers (Gb networks only) or DAFS (Linux, cluster environment only) for clustered servers.

For a SAN (requires Gb fiber) you might do better to run TCP/IP and use a gadget Intel & Lucent developed that processes layers of network protocols, (TCP, UDP, IP, ICMP, and maybe others) directly with a chip which will, according to them, allow wire speed performance on the network.

So you gotta be more specific I think.
