I have been reading the comments about 7.1 and since I have an old IBM 2168 computer, I decided that the resource drain might be too much. I was away for a week and worked on a computer at Wilson College that had 7.02 and it seemed very good. Currently have 4.79. Downloaded streamline version 7.02 with mail option. My question is this: Suppose I install 7.02 leaving my 4.79 intact, what will happen to my mail that is coming to 4.79? Can I change my mail to come to 7.02 if I decide I like it after a while?
All of these questions have probably been answered before but I don't recall seeing them. Thanks for all the help.

Nothing should happen to your mail, since N4.79 and N7.02 use separate profiles. What you can do, while you are still testing, is set N7.02 to leave your mail on the server, then you can download it with N4.79.

Is your computer fast enough to run N7.02?

    CPU speed

The CPU is a Pentium 200Mhz and I have 128MB RAM. I have not had too many problems with speed issues except I notice that current versions of Winfax run rather slowly.

You may be able to use Netscape 7.02/7.1, but it will not be the fastest program in the world, since your system is below the "minimum specs" of 233mhz and 64mb ram. However, it never hurts to try. I have successfully used Mozilla (Netscape is based on Mozilla) on a 200mhz machine without trouble, so you will need to test and see. Be sure to do a custom install...

    File default location

Will 7.02 be put into the same folder as my 4.79? If so, is that desirable or should I change the folder?

Installing N7.02 in the N4.79 directory is a bad idea. By default, it installs in its own directory, and has it's own profile directory. I believe it offers to migrate your N4.79 profiles over to N7.02 profiles, so many of your settings and personal files should be in tact. This will not change your use of 4.79, and both can be used at the same time (this may slow you down).
