In IE 9, A lot of pictures on various web sites do not show.
At times when I search the internet, a web page will come up, the screen goes black for a few seconds and then the web page comes up again. (sometimes twice for the same web page) This has been going since I installed IE 9 and does not happen with 'google chrome'
Is it OK to delete the event logs, and is it necessesary to up date the bios and drivers if there are no apperent problems with the computer?

Sounds rather like you have a corrupted install of IE 9 - OTOH there may be an add-on which is causing the problem......

How to manage add-ons in Internet Explorer 9

If add-ons are not the source of the problem take a look here ....

How to reinstall or repair Internet Explorer in Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP
Yes, if you no longer want the info they contain, but until you sort out IE I would let them be.
Absolutely not - the only time a BIOS should be updated is when the newer version includes enhanced compatibility and/or features that you need for your computer to function satisfactorily.

Thanks PeteC. As soon I have the results of IE 9 I shall report back.
I am relieved to know, that I don't have to worry about updating the BIOS (a scary thought for an old geezer)
