    Hi,

I am about to replace the system board and processor in a friends XP PC. The installed version of XP is a Dutch version (he's Dutch but based in UK). He's lost his original installation CD.

When I boot up the machine after the upgrade I am pretty sure that Windows will want an XP CD inserted at some point, I think I need to enter the recovery console and choose the option to keep all settings. Question is can I use a UK XP CD or does it have to be a Dutch one and if so, where do I get hold of one!

    He has his activation code.

    Thanks!

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

When you change the motherboard you need to make a Repair install of Windows ....

How to replace the motherboard on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, or Windows 2000

You will need a Dutch version of the install CD to do this .....

    Try eBay .....

You will also need to install the chipset drivers, etc for the motherboard - these should be on a CD accompanying the mobo.
