Wonder if anyone has had anything like this before...

When I click the start button and the menu comes up, but then press start again or click off it to get rid of the start menu, the shadow, which is to the right of the menubar actually stays on the screen and theres no way to get rid of it, therefore having to reboot! Totally weird!

Does anyone else come across this problem or know a solution so it doesnt occur!?

    Thanks. :p

Not come across this one, but you could try :

Display Properties > Appearance > Effects and clear 'Shadows under menus' check box. - if it is checked.

    or

Right click 'My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Performance Settings and clear check box there.

Might be worth changing Desktop theme and then changing back.

As a last resort you could try a re-install of the video drivers.
