98FE to SE update problem

    I've been putting together a do-it-yourself system for my sons (a new venture for me). Athlon 2gh, 80gb hd (4 partitions), etc.

    98FE went on with no problem from the upgrade disk. When I try the SE update disk (the cheap one), installation hangs after "preparing the setup wizard" shows 100%. Ctrl-Alt-Del shows that "suwin.exe" is not responding.

    Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Bad media?

    Had a simular issue myself loading Wink2k - after careful examination a pinprick scratch was found on the media on the printed side. It was in a bad location such that the error correction was unable to compensate.

    Luckly for me I had bought 2 identical systems only 3 months apart and was able to use the install media from the other unit.
