98 Boot problem

    I rebooted my sons machine tonight and got the error messesage "invalid system disk ..........etc" I checked all the drives. Nothing in the A drive no CD in the tray. I presume something has corrupted. Can any one offer a fix. Many thanks

    Put a Win98 boot disk in the floppy drive and boot up to the floppy.

    It will come to a point where it asks if you want CDRom support, you can select no CDRom support, you won't need the CD for this.

    You should see a black screen and the A:\ prompt.

    Type SYS C: and hit enter.

    Take the floppy out and reboot (reset button if you have one or ctrl+alt+del)

    You might also check the BIOS settings to be sure that he didn't loose the hard drive settings due to a low battery. Just a thought!
