I am currently running windows xp home edition version 2002 with all the updates etc. Although I am tempted by Vista, I dont want to pay for it and really dont to hassle with all the problems I have heard about it (perhaps another subject).

I have a chance to get a free XP pro 64bit and I have some questions.

    1. All the info i can find is dated from like 2004. Most of speaks of potential driver errors etc. Is it still a problem?

    2. Should I even bother? I want to because its new and different, etc.

    3. Will it require a format of my hard drive?

    4. Am I likely to have software compatibility issues (firefox? games?)?

    My current system.
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6300
    Gigabyte GA-965P DS3 motherboard.
    2 gigs of ddr2 667 memory
    250gig HD
    X1950 pro Ultimate video card.

    Thanks

    I wouldn't bother...

Yes to reformat of the drive and yes to trouble finding drivers.

From what I've heard/read, the only benefit from x64 for a normal user is that x32 can not handle memory above 4 GB. How many of us have more than 4 GB RAM installed?

    (If I'm wrong ... ... I'm sure I'll be corrected!)
