    Hi

My display settings has options starting from 800x600 upward.
I need to set it to 600x480, is there a way to do that?
(my vga card is gforce 4 mx, using windows xp pro)

Yes - fool Windows into thinking it is a VGA monitor.

Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > Monitor .......... Uninstal/change monitor and reinstall manually, selecting VGA ..... I think :)

Don't remember the exact details, but I did this for a friend whose eyesight is failing.

doesn't work for me. after uninstalling my monitor, and use install wizard, it brings back: default monitor.

I need to see a of resolution of 600x480 to select it. right now, only 800x600 is the minimum available for selection.

I have investigated further and have a monitor running at 640 x 480. The method used may be specific to my setup which is a Matrox Millenium G550 Dual Head card running 17" and 22" monitors.

Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > Adapter > List all Modes - selected 640 x 480 from the drop down list - done!

The friend I mentioned has the same setup.

Hope it works for you with the gforce card.
