    Hi all,

Here's a prob that I just received from my grandson.
    Hey Grandad,
I am on holidays now! YAY!! Hows work going for you both?
Yesterday i clicked on a website not knowing that it was going to load stuff on my pc. It has now loaded virus' on my pc. Addware detecs it then it says that it delets it but then i go onto norton after it was supposed to be deleted and then the virus' come up again. I then try to get rid of the virus' with norton but it keeps on saying deletion failed. My homepage wont change and pornography links are always added to my favourites. What can i do?
heHe is running XP pro I got him to download MS Anti spyware prog which he ran and said
"This free microsoft anti-virus picked up only on Addware thing.. But norton picks up 5 virus'? how do you think i can get rid of those five, as microsoft dealt with that 1.

    Here are the virus' detected appxe32.exe, msxmidi.exe.bak, nyhomill.exe, winwd32.exe, wuqbt.dll.

I also had him remove ALL sys restore points but his problem remains.
I realise this is fraught with difficulties dealing with a 3rd. party.

    Hi Roy,

See if Norton quarentined the items: Reports > quarentined items.

http://www.windowsbbs.com/links.php Links to on-line virus scanners for 2nd opinions.

My homepage wont change and pornography links are always added to my favourites.
That's more than viruses, get a HijackThis log posted.

For the link to HJT, look in the links page I gave you above. Download HijackThis to a folder of it's own - unzip and run. After the scan, click the save scan button, the saved scan will be in the same folder - then copy & paste it into your next post.

    Regards - Charles

Thanks Charles for your prompt response.

I have forwarded your response to my grandson and have suggested that as a family they contact this board themselves as to and froing between us all is just going to be too difficult.

I would imagine they have never heard of "hijackthis" nor many of the programs that folk on this BBS utilize.

Trust you have a remarkably wonderful and SAFE Easter.
