Not sure what the question is?
Do you have one of these cards and it doesn't work or do you need to find one of the cards?

Appreciate your reply, Mr. Steve R Jones.

What hardware is required to connect to the internet(broadband RR) with a new PC with Vista?

In the past, a modem and a 3Com Modem/LAN EtherLink III PC Card was needed.

I have been informed that with Vista: hit "start" and connect to internet and "Shabooom" your on line. Seems to easy?

Sorry for my previous language. Was not perfectly clear?

You need some way of connecting to the internet.

The "gateway" at your home should be a cable modem or DSL modem (most likely) - if you have this, then you'll need some way to connect the PC to the modem.

Some modems have routers built into them, and some routers have wireless capabilities built into them. You'll have to let us know what you have in order for some assistance in connecting.

The PC should have wireless capability built in (presuming this is a laptop) - so you likely won't need a separate card to do this.

Let us know what your current network setup is, and the make and model of your PC and we can go from there.

New PC, to be ordered, will be a HP desktop PC with Vista that shall be connected to broadband road runner. Currently, my set up with old PC requires an external modem and the card inside the PC. Vista PC's may contain these two items, off the shelf, inside the box??

Pretty much all pc's come with a Network Adaptor.

Most ISP's supply the external modem.

    I
    Below info fron HP HQ's

I am glad to inform you that the new HP PC's are equipped with onboard
    Ethernet card(Integrated 10/100 Base-T networking interface) and a modem
installed on the PC. However, you can have the CTO(Configure To Order)
model. In this CTO model, you can choose and order the parts to build
    the PC of your own.

Shall we say issue reolved. Case closed.:) :)

I believe that the modem that the HP folks are referring to is the dialup modem for connecting your phone line. The built-in (internal) cable modems aren't very popular and I've never seen one myself.

    Here's a link that discusses them:http://www.cable-modems.org/tutorial/04.htm

    :) HP folks replied:

Yes, that is correct, in case of a broadband connection you will be
given an external modem by the ISP(Internet Service Provider), all you
got to do is to connect the cable to the LAN Card. I hope that this is
    clear.

Now we all can rest for Easter and pig out on candy?:) :) :)
