Windows Vista 3.5 .net service pack won't install

    I got C&C 4 for Christmas, and as exciting as that is, it uses 3.5's SP1. That won't install on my computer! I did see that this had been resolved for other people in the past, and I did mean to reply in those threads, but I couldn't find the reply button. :eek: So I decided making a thread would be sufficient after 10 minutes of no-reply-ability.

    I've downloaded the .net cleanup tool, and run it. I restarted the computer, installed 3.5, and then tried to install 3.5 SP1. 3.5 went fine, and SP1... didn't.

    Seen this problem before and the best answer was to uninstall ALL the .net frameworks and go back and install then one at a time. I only have 4 on this Win 7 PC and that is not unusual.

    See, I tried that already. I tried uninstalling them manually, then used the cleanup tool, both times to no avail. :(

    I didn't install ALL of them though. Do I need .net frameworks 1-3 as well as 3.5 for the SP to install correctly?

    Install only the service pack? I'll give it a go, but that seems odd to me.

    Error code -2146762496 means TRUST_E_NOSIGNATURE No signature was present in the subject.

    It could be caused by the corrupted installer.

    I'd suggest opening a Windows Update Support Incident Request.

    Done, and waiting for response. What would a corrupted installer mean? In laymans terms? The disc I used to install vistax64 is bad?
