I bought an ATI 9000 Pro agp video card to install into my emachine T4080.
The T4080 has an Intel onboard graphics chip 82845g.
On Intels web site they claim that by adding an agp card will disable the onboard card.
In the ATI manual it says to remove the previous video card drivers rebot then close down. Install the agp card then turn on computer and it will work.
My problem is that when I right click on desktop I get an error message about igfx tray and hkcmd modules. And the an error that refers to hccutils.dll. In control panel I still have the Intel monitor looking thing that says it controls the graphics hardware. When click on it I get this message: An exception occurred trying to run shell32.dll,control_rundll "c:\windows\system32\igfxcpl.cpl" intel extreme graphics "

I sent an email to intel and they said update the bios.

I would appreciate any help I can get.
    Thanks inadvance.

If your board manufacturer says plugging in an AGP card will disable the on-board video, and that isn't happening, it is time to contact the board's manufacturer.

Have you updated the BIOS as advised?

Did you remove the on-board video card from the Device Manager before inserting the AGP card? Maybe that would help.

I did remove it from device manager.
    How do you update bios?
    I have Phoenix Bios.
The mother board is an IM845G.
The computer is an Emachine T4080. 2.4 Gig P4.

Maybe you should just let Windows install whatever it wants to, then right-click on the graphics card you don't want and disable it.

There may also be a place in your BIOS setup where you can choose AGP or PCI as your primary video.

I think the errors are because od the removal of the intel drivers.
I have tried to load those drivers but since the agp card is there the computer wont allow them to load.
Would an alternative be to remove the agp card reload the intel drivers and then reinstall the agp card?

This is what Intel says to do.....

Thank you for contacting Intel(R) Technical Support.

"To solve this issue, please run a search under the windows directory for any
files called IGFX*.*. Please delete any and all files that appear and make sure
you never install the Intel(R) video drivers again. "

In win Xp where is windows directory?
Is that the same thing as find files or folders?
If so there were 71 files and the backup 71 for 142 files.
    Just start deleting them?
I'd like to not mess anything up.

I di as Intel said and now no errors when right clicking on desktop and no "Intel Control panel" in Control panel.
Thanks for all of the suggestions.
