    2 things if I may....

Where exactly does FF put its cache? I need to find a file that is in the cache, but all I seem to find is the IE cache.

Does anybody know of any issues with TrendMicro PC-Cillin A/V? I installed it a few days back and now FF runs a bit weird. (as well as slow)
I can no longer "Save Page As ".

I have set up my Firefox to delete Cache on closing, mostly because too much Cache is detrimental to the performance of the program, and, besides, there is no way to tell what one has, unless willing to spend a lot of time to find out what the files are. What can you tell from a description like: 1A0CDEE9d01, or anything that? There has been no description of file in Cache since NS6/7, etc. The path is:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\blahblah.profilename\Cache
I know nothing about PCillin, but I know that any AV will slow you down.

    JGB,

    From the TrendMicro KB:
You might want to consider AVG, or avast!, both of which are freeware. Check this Firefox KB article for problems with other AV programs and Firefox.

    Thanks Ramona (and Westside).

I was coming to that conclusion. Yes it really slows my PC, but all A/V do, some more than others. As for the web filter, TM has one that is good at marking spam, but has the very annoying habit of telling me I've opened a contagious website, but doesn't say which it is, (just the http URL of the offending page, not the host that spawned it.) A little less than useful. This happens even when I have NO browser loaded.

Also noted, TM keeps opening IE to tell me more about the offender, but a scan will not find the malware causing the problem. Some problems it finds, but tells me it cannot quarantine the malware, which usually hides in IE's cache. When I look, it's not there.

The initial scan (done in Safe Mode) found a lot of virus & spyware, but not all of it. Something is lurking in background. I hear it start/stop, and Task Mgr shows my CPU performance is running at 95%+ for 35 seconds out of 60, with NO TASKS LOADED.

Oh, and in the time it took to write this reply, TM says I tried to open 3 dangerous sites.

Ah well, I still have 28 free days left.

I will note your freebee suggestions.

I have been using AVG for several years, with no problem. You may want to check this thread for info on Karpesky, which is highly regarded, if you can stand going the AOL way.
