    Morning all,

I have recently had to reinstall my PC as my Hard drive died.

I have installed Windows 2000 and updated to SP3, along with various security patches from Windows Update.

I use DSL to connect to the web, which is working just fine, apart from this odd problem.

I use the program Mirc 6.03 a lot to keep in touch with friends. With that progrma I connect to two different irc servers, quakenet and a private server. I have noticed that I am frequently getting disconnected from the servers. The disconnections are fairly regular, appearing to occur every 2 hours or so. However, both servers are not disconnected at the same time.

For example, overnight i was disconnected from the private irc server at 23:41, 01:42, 03:42,05:42 and so on, while I was disconnected from quakenet at 20:09, 23:00, 01:08, 03:08, 05:08, 07:10 and so on.

Throughout al this my DSL connection has not been dropped at all, it has remained connected the whole time.

I dont think there is anything wrong with the irc servers as I did not have this problem before the reinstall. It leads me to believe that there is some option in Mirc that I need to change, or (more likely in my opinion) some Windows setting in relation to networking that needs changing to avoid this two hour cutoff.

    Help would be grately appreciated.

    Rob

Is there anything in your event logs when the disconnects happen?
