I have 2 computers and 2 DSL lines

both computers have 2 ethernet cards
    1 - for the DSL
    2nd for file sharing w/crossover

1st set (DSL) has file share off
2nd set (crossover) has file share on

that is how I can use 2 DSL and still have the computers connected to share files

Question - I have a 3rd computer that needs to see the files here - but cant us a crossover, have to use 1 of the DSL routers - but then I would need to turn on "file share" on the connection, but I dont want the existing computers to get confused on which etherbet is the file real file share - and it seems that if I turned on file share on the DSL ethernet - the computes got confused on which is the right ethernet for file sharing

Why not just plug all three "File share" cards into a hub? Then you don't need cross over cables, you can use straight through, just plug all three computers into the hub and you will be able to share files.

If it will suit your needs - even simpler and will save you some money would be to get a router/switch. Connect one DSL modem to the uplink port. Connect each PC with a regular cable to the switch. Then all three PCs can share files/printers and the DSL modem.

Then you can let the other DSL line go away.

Router/switch is around $50-60 USD for a 4 port device that will take care of all your PCs.

And for normal internet use, all 3 PCs will pretty much get full speed DSL. Only if all 3 are doing large up or down loads will you see any slowdown on the internet connection.

The switch part will give you around 20 times faster network connections among your PCs than any of the lower end hubs since the switch will allow 100Mbps full-duplex (send/receive at the same time) comms while the hub will max out at 10Mbps half-duplex (send OR receive). And the switch has some logic built in so a 100Mbps full-duplex switch is faster than t 100Mbps full-duplex hub, even assuming you could find one at a reasonable price.
