I recently uninstalled java beucase it was not working right but when i went back to install it i got this error:

    error 1101:
    error reading from file:
    http://javadl-esd.sun.com/update/1.6.0/sp-1.6.0_06-b90/sp1033.MST
verify the file exists adn you can access it.

so i looked for the file and i found it but there is nothing in the 1033.mst file. i am so confused and i have no idea what to do. ive tried cleaning the registry and that still didnt help. does anyone know what i can do to fix this problem

    Hi bcgirl23

Go here read about JavaRa, then download it unzip it and run it.

    http://prm753.bchea.org/JavaRa.html

First click the remove older versions wait for it to complete may take a minute!

Then click Search for updates, try jucheck if it does not run in 30 seconds you do not have jucheck (likey not since you did or tried to uninstall).

If jucheck don't do it then click Update using SunJava's Website and install from there.

    Get back!

You can't say it didn't work as you didn't get it unzipped to even run it!

Well that is a totally different issue.

You need to find out what is blocking it, Firewall, antivirus or other malware programs, and allow it to open.

When you do get it open and run it, it may not be the entire fix but likely is!

    Needs to be done!

Or get back with details about what is says when it is being blocked!

    Hi bcgirl23

There is nothing wrong with the file that you downloaded.

You have a virus or spyware program that is mistakenly blocking this program from being extracted.

Try to extract it again and tell be what program pops up and blocks it.

It may be Windows Defender or the Windows Firewall or some other program.

It may say something like "Windows defender has blocked......" or the "Window Firewall has blocked..." yada yada yada!

    Get me the details!

bcgirl23 I will help you, all you need to do is do what I say as I know what I am doing!

But you need to give me details about what happens. I can not drive in the dark either!

There numerous ways to do what you need to do but this is the quickest and most through and simplist way to do it.

If we can't do this then the other ways are more complex.

I encountered a similar problem about a month ago in XP Sp2. The Microsoft Installer 4.5 cannot be installed either, after the download.

What I did was using previously prepared DVD to boot up the PC in Safe Mode. Ran the virus check and uninstall all Java software.

You may also try to unzip the files from another computer onto a thumbdrive. Make them all readonly and use them on your problem PC.

    Good luck.

    OK bcgirl23

My apologies I totally forgot you are running Vista.

The UAC (User Account Control) that is blocking.

    Do the following.

Rt click the download and then left click on "Run as Administrator ". This should allow it to extract.

When you actually run JavaRa do the same, Rt click JavaRa and then left click on "Run as Administrator ".

Sometimes "run as administrator" produces a different result from turning off UAC. You may try both. Or even try to move the file from one folder to another, say public folder. Believe me, Vista SP1 is not mature yet.

OK like Ivan said above, lets turn offf UAC altogather!

Control panel Users Accounts! Click your UserName then find "Turn User Account Control on or off!

Uncheck the "Use user Account Control (UAC) ........" You will need to reboot!

    So reboot!

Now try to open the download and run!
