Try downloading an NTFS DOS viewer. There are some out there that will let you boot to a 98 or ME floppy then run the viewer from floppy and work...
Was it a basic or a dynaimc disk? If nothing else, boot up with a 98 boot disk and copy all of the info you want to save from the problem drive.
