    thanks, that seems to have worked. I disabled a Bluetooth sync add-on which is never used, ran Detect and Repair, and it seems to be stable so...

    PS Have also tried opening Outlook in safe mode, same problem occurs... :(

    The following problem occurs on my husband's computer, running XPHome and Office 2003, plenty of hard disk space, pst file about 180MB, RAM 2GB....
