Usually M$ doesn't mess with drivers if you just take the critical ones and not the optional ones,. The others is where you have to watch yourself.
Have you looked in Control Panel/Programs and Features to see if it is listed there and then tried to uninstall it?

Which mail program did they fix and you are using?
Have you tried shutting off Avast and see if you can get your mail? Then turn it back on.

New version of MalwareBytes available. Update it thru the program itself. Be sure and check for updates for it as soon as the install is finished.
