You could install 2 Gbic's and a MM patch cord to take the copper out of the equation. Why don't you have them connected by the 1000Mb ports?...

Only one device can have the WAN IP. Your router gets it. No way around it unless you have a block of WAN IPs.
I have done a 2015n but it's been a while. You should be able to print a setup map from the printer. Are you going to assign it a static IP?
Just start over running the wizzard. It will bridge the connections.
Fred, Setup an admin account (same spelling as the vista admin account) on the XP machine with the same password as the vista machine.
If you run the internet connection wizzard it should bridge them automatically. I assumed he did that. Is the firewall off on those connections?
