Microsoft issued a patch for all versions of Microsoft Windows because they contain a flaw that could allow an attacker to execute code on your computer, for example after you viewed a Web page.

    Affected Software Versions

    • Microsoft Windows 98
    • Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition
    • Microsoft Windows Me
    • Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server
    • Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition
    • Microsoft Windows 2000
    • Microsoft Windows XP
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2003
Note: Previous versions are no longer supported, and may or may not be affected by these vulnerabilities.

    Severity Rating: Critical

The patch is 823559 dated 7/10/03. Activiation of the problem comes on with the exploitation of user's vulnerabilities when visiting the attacker's own malicious web site. Inducement to visit the site can be very creative and vulnerabilities exit via e-mail as well. What a waste of resources. First waste is the creation and then the loss sustained for the solution.
